Shortly after meeting Harvey Fuqua, they founded the labels Harvey Records and Tri-Phi Records, the latter label including The Spinners, who recorded their first hit with the Gordy/Fuqua composition, "That's What Girls Are Made For".
Between 1984 to 1988 Leon would have moderate success with some of the following: Five Star ("Another Weekend", "Rock My World"), Evelyn "Champagne" King ("Flirt," "Hold on to What You Got"), Stacy Lattisaw ("You Ain't Leavin'"), The Spinners, Howard Hewett ("I Commit To Love") to name a few.
