The band was founded by Jamie Thompson and Nicholas Thorburn as a direct off-shoot project of The Unicorns several months prior to their December 2004 break-up, but prior to the formation of Islands by those same two musicians.
The Ford Plant has welcomed bands from all over North America and beyond, including Arcade Fire, The Stills, The Unicorns, Julie Doiron, Wintersleep, Blue Rodeo, Great Lake Swimmers, Cuff the Duke, Final Fantasy, Jim Guthrie, The Most Serene Republic, Tokyo Police Club, Ninja High School, Zoobombs, Cursive, Grizzly Bear, Chad VanGaalen, Holy Fuck, and many more.
The A-side, The Ghost of Creaky Crater, was recorded in Melbourne in December 2004 while The Unicorns were touring Australia.
Deep within the Beastlands layer of Krigala is the Grove of the Unicorns, a realm she shares with the like-minded goddess Mielikki.
Thompson and fellow Unicorns member Nick Thorburn founded the indie-pop/hip-hop band Th' Corn Gangg several months prior to The Unicorns' break-up in December 2004.
