In late December of 2012 Kendall signed with sponsor, Alpha Energy, partnering with NASCAR and Turner Motorsports driver, Ben Rhodes (Race car driver) for upcoming events in 2013.

Starting in 2006, Owens worked for Braun Racing, later Turner Motorsports and then Turner Scott Motorsports as a crew chief in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, scoring wins with five different drivers and assisting Kyle Larson in winning the 2013 series Rookie of the Year title.
