unusual facts about U.S. National Badminton Championships

Chris Jogis

Between 1985 and 1992 Jogis won the U.S. men's singles title six times, and shared the men's doubles title four times and the mixed doubles title twice.

Ethel Marshall

She also won the US Women's Doubles title in 1952 and 1956 with Beatrice Massman, defeating the Devlin sisters on the latter occasion who had recently won the All-England women's doubles title.

Joseph Cameron Alston

Despite a career in the Federal Bureau of Investigation which sometimes interfered with his avocation, Alston is the only male player to win each of the sport's three basic events, singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, at both the U.S. National Badminton Championships (closed to foreign competition) and the U.S. Open Badminton Championships (open to foreign competition).
