It is maintained by an active collaboration between David Case at Rutgers University, Tom Cheatham at the University of Utah, Tom Darden at NIEHS, Ken Merz at Florida, Carlos Simmerling at Stony Brook University, Ray Luo at UC Irvine, and Junmei Wang at Encysive Pharmaceuticals.
On 21 April 2005, the microtechnology pioneer Fariborz Maseeh (founder of IntelliSense) and the Massiah Foundation pledged $2 million to create an innovative interdisciplinary research center at UC Irvine named "The Dr. Samuel M. Jordan Center for Persian Studies and Culture" that will bring together scholars in Persian history, language, culture, art and literature.
Founded in 2010 with 12 students from UCLA, USC, and CSU Northridge, it has since expanded to include 54 students from those institutions as well as Santa Monica College, Cal Poly Pomona, Chapman University, and UC Irvine.
Among the participating artists were game designer Chris Metzen, Aram Bartholl, Jorg Dubin, UC Irvine professor Antoinette LaFarge, Eddo Stern; Tale of Tales developers Auriea Harvey and Michaël Samyn, and Chinese photographer Zeng Han.
The facility's outdoor breezeway is also informally recognized within the UC Irvine community as the rehearsal space for hip hop dance team Kaba Modern.
The UC Irvine Anteaters men's basketball team is the basketball team that represents University of California, Irvine in Irvine, California, United States.
