Simmenthal defeated Slavia PRague 77–72 in the final of the first ever Final four held in the competition, with two venues used:a venue in Milan and the Palazzo dello sport arena in Bologna, Italy.
It also reached the final in 1976 and 1981, but lost to Slavia Prague and Spartak Moscow.
