He had an early start in NYC's underground punk rock scene as lead guitarist for the Sic F*cks with Tish Bellomo and Snooky Bellomo, a band who, despite the inability to have their name said on the radio, parlayed their comedy-punk spectacle to a feature in Playboy Magazine and movie appearances, including 1982's Alone in the Dark.

In 2007 Nokia commissioned CKS to carry out a study into the effect of mobile phones on economic and social life in rural areas.
One Cosmos was a partnership between Joe Firmage, an Internet entrepreneur, Web visionary, and former CEO of USWeb, a $3B company at its peak, and Ann Druyan, a science writer and widow of astronomer Carl Sagan, who co-wrote the PBS series Cosmos with Sagan and later co-produced the 1997 film Contact, starring Jodie Foster.
MarchFIRST company was formed on March 1, 2000 by the merger of Whittman-Hart, a respected systems integrator employing thousands of consultants in the US, Canada, and Europe, and USWeb/CKS, a pioneering interactive services company formed during the 1990s by accretion of numerous local or regional Internet and Web design consultancies.
With the merger, the company had nearly 2,000 employees and important clients including Apple Computer, Levi Strauss, and Harley-Davidson.
In 1999 the company acquired Fulcrum Solutions Ltd, a UK-based Oracle technology specialist and, shortly afterwards US Web/CKS, a California-based web consulting firm, after which Bob Bernard decided to rename the business marchFIRST, inc., the business was re-corporated on March 1, 2000.
