In 2010, the Norwegian patient advocacy found that Lanzinger had not received adequate treatment for his injuries, and was entitled to monetary compensation from Ullevål University Hospital.

He was first transported off the slope using a sled, then flown using a private helicopter (quickly refitted to allow his transport) first to Lillehammer hospital where surgery was performed, then on to Ullevål University Hospital in Oslo by ambulance helicopter for a new surgery due to problems with the blood circulation in the leg.
An ambulance was requested and one arrived and eventually transported Farah to Ullevål University Hospital where he arrived at 19.13 pm.

Metliaas was later director of Statens Attføringsinstitutt from 1979 to 1983, in the Norwegian Directorate of Labour from 1983 to 1988, of Ullevål University Hospital from 1989 to 1996, of the Norwegian Refugee Council from 1997 to 1999 and of Elverum Hospital from 1999 to his death.
