Campania regional election, 2010

Stefano Caldoro, a former minister and leader of the New Italian Socialist Party, merged into The People of Freedom in 2009, won by a convincing margin over De Luca thanks to a 20% swing in favour of the centre-right, which included the Union of the Centre led by Ciriaco de Mita, an influent former leader of Christian Democracy converted into the role of local party boss.

Elections in Marche

In the last regional election, which took place on 28–29 March 2010, Gian Mario Spacca of the Democratic Party, supported also by the Union of the Centre and Alliance for Italy, defeated by a comfortable margin his centre-right opponent Erminio Marinelli and, thus, secured a second consecutive term as President.

Federalists and Liberal Democrats

The party was founded on 16 December 1994 as a parliamentary group in the Chamber of Deputies by twelve dissident members of Lega Nord, four members of Forza Italia, two members of the Liberal Democratic Foundation, Raffaele Costa (leader of the Union of the Centre and Minister of Health) and Pietro Cerullo (representative of the Southern Action League).

New Pole for Italy

The constituent members of the coalition were the Union of the Centre (leader: Pier Ferdinando Casini), Future and Freedom (Gianfranco Fini), Alliance for Italy (Francesco Rutelli) and the Movement for Autonomies (Raffaele Lombardo).

Party of Christian Democracy

In the 2007 local elections, the party formed a temporary alliance with the Christian Democracy for Autonomies of Gianfranco Rotondi, while in the 2008 general election it was part of the Union of the Centre alliance led by Pier Ferdinando Casini.

Pier Ferdinando Casini

Casini ran on a purely 'centrist' platform, founding the new Union of the Centre party along with Savino Pezzotta's Rosa Bianca.
