The Advanced Gun System is a naval gun system under development by BAE Systems Armaments Systems (formerly United Defense) for the Zumwalt-class destroyer of the United States Navy.
In September 2000 United Defense Industries (UDI) purchased Bofors Weapon Systems from Saab (the tube artillery interests), while Saab retained the missile interests.

In June 2005 BAE Systems acquired United Defense and reorganised its land systems businesses into BAE Systems Land and Armaments, with Land Systems and Land Systems Hägglunds as subsidiaries of this U.S. based operating group.
After retirement from the Army, he become a director at United Defense Industries (UDI) in 1997.

In March 2004 at the 82nd Airborne Division's request, the Army approved the transfer of four production vehicles from United Defense's facility in York, Pennsylvania to the 82nd at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.
