Immediately prior to being SSS director, he was the Soldier and Family Assistance Program Manager for the U.S. Army 5th Recruiting Brigade, responsible for the family programs of seven Recruiting Battalions in a multi-state area.
He was then part of the United States Army Recruiting Command, before serving with the 5th Special Forces Group during the Gulf War.
According to the National Association for Music Education, costs associated with the band are underwritten by several corporate sponsors, such as Jupiter Band Instruments, in addition to the United States Army Recruiting Command.
