SAUM has a rich history that began in April 9, 1933 when King Carol II of Romania promulgated the Law concerning the transformation of Agricultural Sciences Section of the University of Iaşi into the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences with its center in Chişinău.
He founded the University of Iaşi (1860) and the University of Bucharest (1864), and helped develop of a modern, European-style Romanian Army, under a working relationship with France.
Born in Urzici-Arămeşti, Neamţ County (the state of Moldavia), into a family of priests, Arămescu-Donici studied at the Târgu Neamț and Socola Seminaries, then at the University of Iaşi, graduating in Literature in 1877.
Thus, the history of plasma physics in Romania began in 1923 with the defense of the first PhD thesis in physics at the University of Iaşi by Theodor V. Ionescu, under the guidance of Professor Petru Bogdan.
He taught the first modern algebra course in Romania, named Logic and theory of proof, at the University of Iaşi.
