George was educated in Nigeria and Britain and studied in diverse schools like Irwin Academy (UK), Ijebu Ode Grammar School, Nigeria, Federal Government College, Kaduna, Nigeria, University of Lagos and Middlesex University (UK).
After leaving the army he was successively: lecturer in law at University College, London; Sir Ernest Cassel Professor of Commercial Law, London School of Economics, University of London 1948-52; visiting professor, Harvard Law School 1954-55; professor and dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos 1962-65; vice-chancellor, University of Southampton 1971-79.
Furthermore, a number of public places are named after her in contemporary Nigeria, such as the female residence halls at the University of Lagos and Obafemi Awolowo University.
