He was dean of the School of Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin from 1992-2001 and served as Founding Director of the Center of American Architecture and Design from 1982-1990.
She studied fine arts at Westmoreland College in San Antonio, at the University of Texas School of Architecture in Austin, at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
