Vira Raja himself died in 1863, and was buried in Kensal Green cemetery.
Other inscriptions mention that Parantaka and his young son, Aditya Karikalan (also referred to as Aditya II) defeated Vira Pandya and made him flee to the hills surrounding the battlefield.
By the time Maduranthaka was old enough to claim the crown, Sundara Chola had two sons – Aditya Karikalan (the one who took the head of the Vira Pandya) and Arulmozhivarman.
Vira Varma and his nephews, Ravi Varma and Kerala Varma (Pazhassi Raja) rose to prominence in turbulent days that followed Hyder Ali's invasion of Malabar in 1774.

Vira Varma was the second ranking prince of Kottayam and last Raja of Kurumbranad.

In 1797, Pazhassi Raja won the war and one his terms was for the British to recognize his claim that Vira Varma must not be permitted to rule Kottayam, since being Raja of Kurumbranad had removed his right to his native home.
