In 1590 a fort was built at Lozvinsk on the river to guard a route over the Urals which ran from the Vishera River to the Lozva.
Several small tributaries of the Vishera River, located in the area of the Vishera Nature Reserve, originate from the generally steeper western slopes of the range.
Around 1590, a more northern route was opened from Cherdyn north of Solikamsk up to the Vishera River and down the Lozva River.
