Born in the city of Vysoké Mýto (then Hohenmauth in Austria-Hungary, now part of Ústí nad Orlicí District, Pardubice Region of the Czech Republic) on 15 May 1859, he finished high school in Pardubice before graduating from the Charles University and the Technical University in Prague.
Luboš Kubík (born 20 January 1964 in Vysoké Mýto) is a Czech former professional footballer and former manager of Torquay United, who played sweeper for the Czechoslovakia and Czech Republic national teams, winning 56 caps in total, and a number of notable clubs.
The Vysoké Mýto Regional Museum has a separate workplace in Vraclav, deputed to newly build Vysoké Mýto by King Přemysl Otakar II in 1262.
