The 1925–26 WHL season was the fifth and last season for the now defunct Western Canada Hockey League (WCHL), which was renamed Western Hockey League (WHL) at the start of the season due to one of its Canadian teams, the Regina Capitals, moving to Portland, Oregon in the United States and being renamed the Portland Rosebuds.
Newans led all WCHL defencemen in goals scored during the 1996–97, 1997–98, and 1999–2000 WCHL seasons.

During the 1996–97 WCHL season Newans set the WCHL single season records for most goals (26), most assists (57), and most points (83) by a defenceman.
During the 2000–01 WCHL season he scored 117 points to lead the WCHL in points, and was selected as the WCHL's Most Valuable Player.
It was built in the 1910s and was the home of the Saskatoon Sheiks of the WCHL and Saskatoon Wesleys of the SJHL.
Krywulak turned pro during the 1997–98 season, playing in 3 games with the San Diego Gulls of the minor professional West Coast Hockey League (WCHL).
Although the Renegades never moved past the first round of the WCHL playoffs, the team achieved notoriety in 1996 by signing female goaltender Manon Rhéaume, who earlier in the decade played in preseason games for the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning.
He went on to play eleven seasons of professional hockey, including two seasons in the West Coast Hockey League (WCHL) with the San Diego Gulls where he was recognized for his outstanding play when he was named to the 2001–02 WCHL First All-Star Team.
