They made friends with characters like Bill Harney, a bushman, raconteur and writer, and Gwoya Jungarai or "One Pound Jimmy", famous for being depicted on earlier Australian stamps and in Walkabout magazine.
One advertisement in Walkabout magazine in November 1953, headed 'Trains we are proud of', promoted H 220 as "Australia's mightiest engine" and its nightly service hauling the 9.25 Albury Interstate Fast Freight.
The records were wrapped in a copy of the Australian geographical magazine Walkabout, hence the name given to the site.
