After graduating public schools there, he taught school for six years; he then graduated from Detroit College of Medicine.
He went on to study medicine at the Detroit College of Medicine and Trinity College, setting up practice in Windsor.
He then attended medical school at Wayne State University where he specialized in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.
