Emmis Communications

WQHT-FM provoked a controversy in January 2005, a month after the Asian tsunami caused by the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake, by playing the Tsunami song entitled "USA for Indonesia", a parody sung to the 1985 tune "We Are the World." Listeners, politicians and civil rights groups protested in front of the station.

In 1985, he was instrumental in securing the talent that appeared on the fund-raising single and album We Are the World.

After playing it, he commented that the song would be ideal for use as a multiple-artist benefit project (similar to Band Aid's Feed the World, or USA for Africa's We Are the World tracks).
