He hit the first ball he faced in Test cricket, bowled by Wes Hall, back over the bowler's head for four.
He was the batsman who faced the last ball of the last over off Wes Hall in the famous Tied Test between Australia and West Indies at The Gabba in Brisbane in 1960.
He also became involved with the Sports and Leisure ministry in Australia and eventually co-wrote two books recounting the spiritual conversions of Australian and International sports-stars such as Nick Farr-Jones, Wes Hall and Bernhard Langer.
