Although it is smaller than more recent shopping centres such as the MetroCentre, Bluewater, Lakeside and Westfield London, it has one of the largest incomes per unit area of retail space in the UK.
In 2005, construction began on a major redevelopment project in the White City area, including the large-scale Westfield Shopping Centre, developed by the Westfield Group.
This station is also directly opposite the now closed BBC Television Centre and is within walking distance of Loftus Road, home of Queens Park Rangers F.C. It is also within walking distance of Westfield London.
