George Burman Foster (1858–1919) was part of the faculty in the Divinity School (Baptist) at the University of Chicago under the leadership of William Rainey Harper.
In 1902, at the request of William Rainey Harper, first President of the University of Chicago, for assistance from Harvard's faculty in setting up a law school at Chicago, Beale was "lent" by Harvard to became the first dean of the University of Chicago Law School.
University of Chicago founder William Rainey Harper was a skeptic of coeducation, although he had been persuaded to accept it at the University from the beginning.
