From 1896 to 1907, she attended the Packer Collegiate Institute where she studied harmony with Raymond Huntington Woodman and violin with Henry Schradieck.
Woodman studied Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff, before winning a two year scholarship to Ferris State University at Big Rapids, Michigan, USA.

Woodman is a runner and has participated in the Great North Run, The Birmingham Half Marathon and the London Marathon where in 2012 he recorded a time of 3 hours.
