He received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine with honors in 1983, and obtained internal medicine experience at Greenwich Hospital, a Yale School of Medicine affiliate and research experience at Massachusetts General Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate.
2007 Wiley Prize in Biomedical Science jointly with Arthur L. Horwich of Yale School of Medicine, "for their significant contribution in protein folding".
(January 29, 1925 – September 13, 2010) was an American virologist and epidemiologist who made pioneering studies into the nature and spread of polio, hepatitis and mononucleosis while at the Yale School of Medicine, after which he served for nearly a decade as Dean of the Dartmouth Medical School.
