Bogdan Khanenko was a famous patron of arts, and during his forty year collection activity he purchased works from art auctions in Vienna, Berlin, Paris, and Madrid.
In addition to grants from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and other entities, AAC diversifies its funding through fundraising events including the annual AIDS Walk, Boston's second largest walk, and ARTcetera, a biennial art auction that features art from acclaimed artists such as Mr. Brainwash, Ryan McGinley, Mitch Weiss, Harold Eugene Edgerton.
When the 1990 Luzon earthquake struck, BenCab and the BAG helped out by instituting programs such as the ArtAid workshop for traumatized children, and a fund-raising art auction they titled "Artquake." Bencab was elected president of the guild the following year.
