Patrick Michael Rice (also Patricio Rice) (September 1945, Fermoy – 8 July 2010, Miami) was an Irish human rights activist and former Catholic priest and religious who became a resident of Argentina.
The Institute of the Theology of the Consecrated Life "Claretianum" is an educational institute of the Roman Catholic Church in Rome founded by the Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary of the Claretian order.
He was a member of the Interdicasterial Commission for a Just Distribution of Clergy (1991), the IV General Conference of Latin American Bishops (CELAM) (1992), the Ordinary Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the Consecrated Life and Its Role in the Church and in the World (1994), the Synod of Bishops' Special Assembly for America (1997) and (since 1994) a permanent consultant to the Congregation for the Clergy.
It was announced on February 25, 2011 that Pope Benedict XVI had appointed the Reverend Father William J. Waltersheid, Secretary for the Clergy and the Consecrated Life of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, as Bishop Winter's replacement as Auxiliary Bishop-elect of Pittsburgh, where he will serve as an assistant to Bishop David Zubik.
