The Black-lored Waxbill (Estrilda nigriloris) is a species of estrildid finch found around the Lualaba River and Lake Upemba in the southern of The Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The Cinderella Waxbill (Estrilda thomensis) is a near-threatened species of estrildid finch found in drier regions of south-western Angola around Namibe Province, north and east to south-west Huila Province and north to Fazenda do Cuito in Huambo and extreme north-western Namibia.
The site forms part of the Ord Irrigation Area Important Bird Area (IBA), so identified by BirdLife International because of its importance for wild birds, especially estrildid finches.
