The Ungeheuersee in the Palatinate Forest of Germany is a raised bog pond, surrounded by mixed forest, which is located about three kilometres west-southwest of the village of Weisenheim am Berg.
The raised bog (Hochmoor) is located at an elevation of 930 metres above sea level (NN) in a clearing in the highland forest southwest of the town of Johanngeorgenstadt.
The name Seskinore is derived from the Irish Seisceann Odhar, which means "brownish marsh/bog", and the area to the north on the way to Omagh is characterised by lowland raised bog.
The parish also includes the lowland raised bog of Wybunbury Moss, a National Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest.
