The Boccherini Quintet (Quintetto Boccherini) was a string quintet founded in Rome in 1949 when two of its original members, Arturo Bonucci and Pina Carmirelli, discovered and bought, in Paris, a complete collection of the first edition of Luigi Boccherini's 141 string quintets, and set about to promote this long neglected music.
His other compositions include sonatas, variations and other works for piano, a violin concerto (dedicated to Jane Manning), songs (amongst them settings of Rabindranath Tagore, Hinton's Opp. 9 and 12), works for the organ, a string quintet (for two violins, viola, cello, double-bass and soprano, and lasting for 2 hrs 45 mins in performance), and a Sinfonietta.

For the 2008-2009 season guest artists include Robin Young (of radio station WBUR) as narrator for the Holocaust-inspired There is wind and there are ashes in the wind by Osvaldo Golijov, Robert D. Levin on piano for the Mozart Quintet in E-flat major for piano and winds, K.452, Marcus Thompson on viola for the Brahms String quintet in F, Op. 88, and Fenwick Smith on flute for Shulamit Ran's Mirage for Five Players.
In March 1935 with Raymond Jeremy they gave the first performance of the Arnold Bax String Quintet in one movement.
In addition to composing music for his quintet, he has made pieces for string quintet and percussion as accompaniment to fairy tales by H. C. Andersen (2005), background music for Marguerite Duras' "The Lover" (2005), and was the main composer and bandleader for the jazz quintet Lobster (2002–08).
