It was in a cabin near the town that William L. Carlisle, one of America's last train robbers, was captured in December 1919 after a shoot-out with the posse pursuing him.
In the latter years of his life Hogan was profoundly affected by the deaths of several of his friends and fellow robbers: the shooting of Charlie Wilson in 1990, the suicide of Buster Edwards in 1994, and the death of Rick Withers.
Set in the Old West, the story is about train-robber Harker Fleet (Peppard), who is sent to prison for assaulting a sheriff and his deputy while trying to escape a forced marriage, set up by his former partner, Timothy Xavier Nolan (John Vernon).
