The 1987 Winter Universiade, the XIII Winter Universiade, took place in Štrbské Pleso, Czechoslovakia.
The 1992–93 FIS Cross-Country World Cup started in Ramsau, Austria, on 12 December 1992 and finished in Strbske Pleso, Slovakia, on 20 March 1993.
The station was finally transformed into a junction station on 13 August 1912, when the rest of the TEŽ's main line was completed between Starý Smokovec and Štrbské Pleso.
