In 1916, a friend, journalist Cruz Magalhãez published the poetry he wrote during the eight years Costa Alegre lived in Portugal.

Gilbert Waterhouse

A volume of his poems Rail-Head and other poems (including the poems Rail-Head and Bivouacs) was published posthumously in 1916.
