1989 World Snooker Championship

Davis won by the biggest margin ever at a World Snooker Championship when he beat John Parrott 18–3 in the final to win his sixth title to equal Ray Reardon's total since the competition was re-launched in 1969.

Still, 1989/90 was to see a revival and despite a round one exit at the World Championship to Wayne Jones, he did enough to regain a place in the top 16 before moving up to number seven at the end of 1990/1.
