Stadion Piast

The whole structure is almost an exact copy of the German Benteler Arena (previously know as Energieteam Arena), which is a home ground of SC Paderborn 07 currently playing in the 2. Bundesliga.


1984–85 Bundesliga

Arminia Bielefeld and third-placed 2. Bundesliga team 1. FC Saarbrücken had to compete in a two-legged relegation/promotion play-off.

1990–91 Bundesliga

FC St. Pauli and third-placed 2. Bundesliga team Stuttgarter Kickers had to compete in a two-legged relegation/promotion play-off.

2002–03 Regionalliga

Five teams were due to be relegated, but Stuttgarter Kickers and Sportfreunde Siegen were repreived because two of the relegated teams from the 2. Bundesliga, SSV Reutlingen and SV Waldhof Mannheim, could not achieve a Regionalliga license, and dropped another level, to the Oberliga.

Adolphus Ofodile

After a disappointing year, in which he only made one league appearance, as a late substitute for Darren Byfield in a 2–2 draw with Crystal Palace, and one in the Football League Cup, he returned to Germany to sign for FC St. Pauli of the 2. Bundesliga.

Andreas Reinke

After helping FC St. Pauli narrowly miss out on promotion from the second level, Reinke signed with 1. FC Kaiserslautern, where he won his first trophies: in 1996, the Palatinate Forest side suffered top flight relegation, but managed to win the cup, 1–0 against Karlsruher SC.

Cem Dinç

After receiving limited playing time in Germany and the German 2. Bundesliga, Cem moved to the United States, signing with the Indiana Hoosiers at Indiana University.

Christian Pauli

He made his debut for Osnabrück in April 2011, as a substitute for a Benjamin Siegert in a 4–0 defeat to Hertha BSC in the 2. Bundesliga.

David Degen

However, after the club's relegation in the Bundesliga season 2006–07 into the 2. Bundesliga, Borussia manager Jos Luhukay loaned him out to his former club, Basel for the 2007–08 season.

Hans-Jörg Criens

By the 1993–94 season Criens had fallen down the attacker pecking order, behind Martin Dahlin, Heiko Herrlich and Martin Max, and in October 1993, the 33-year-old signed for 1. FC Nürnberg, suffering team relegation and then playing his last year as a professional in the second division.

Heinrich Schmidtgal

Heinrich Schmidtgal (Cyrillic: Генрих Шмидтгаль, romanized: Genrikh Shmidtgal; born 20 November 1985 in Esik, Kazakh SSR) is a Kazakh footballer of German descent who currently plays for Fortuna Düsseldorf in the 2. Bundesliga.

John Mosquera

John Jairo Mosquera (born 15 January 1988 in Apartadó, Antioquia) is a Colombian footballer who plays for Energie Cottbus in 2. Bundesliga as a forward.

Jonathan Beaulieu-Bourgault

Born in Montreal, Quebec, he helped FC St. Pauli gain promotion from the Regionalliga Nord to the 2. Bundesliga during the 2006–07 season, after being forced to sit out the prior season due to a broken leg.

Kwame Nsor

He joined German side 1. FC Kaiserslautern from FC Metz in July 2012 made his debut for the club two months later, as a substitute for Enis Alushi in a 2. Bundesliga match against MSV Duisburg.

Marvin Höner

Born and raised in Bielefeld, Marvin is the product of the youth ranks of local German 2. Bundesliga side Arminia Bielefeld, having last played for the clubs A-Juniors team during the 2012–13 season, where he scored 9 goals in 12 matches in the German Under 19 Bundesliga finishing the season in 7th place.

Neale Marmon

He began his professional football career in Germany with VfL Osnabrück in the German 2. Bundesliga in 1985, having won the Oberliga championship the previous year.

Non-League football

It is also used throughout Europe, although in Germany non-professional leagues are known as Regionalliga, as the leagues are all regional depending on the location of the town or city the team represents, unlike 1. Bundesliga, 2. Bundesliga and 3. Liga all being national leagues.

Rob Friend

During the 2007–08 season Friend scored 18 goals in 33 matches, making him Borussia Mönchengladbach's top scorer and the second top scorer in Bundesliga 2.

Sven Müller

He had the following year a place in the first eleven but after his former Wolfsburg manager Wolfgang Wolf had to leave the club he did not play anymore so he followed him to famous second league club 1. FC Kaiserslautern where he could return to his old strength.

Tim Allpress

Timothy John "Tim" Allpress (born 27 January 1971) is an English former footballer who played as a defender in the Football League for Luton Town, Preston North End and Colchester United, and in the German 2. Bundesliga for Bayer Uerdingen.
