The 2001 Women's South American Volleyball Championship was the 24th edition of the South American Volleyball Championship, organised by South America's governing volleyball body, the ConfederaciĆ³n Sudamericana de Voleibol (CSV).
She turned professional in 1985 and has spent much of her career on the Ladies European Tour, where she has won several tournaments including a Women's British Open title in 1993 (before that tournament was an LPGA major championship).
Besides that, Vigil coached Las Leonas to gold medals at the 2002 Women's Hockey World Cup, 2001 Champions Trophy and the 1999 Pan American Games.
