2002 Winter Olympic bid scandal

Swiss IOC member Marc Hodler, head of the coordination committee overseeing the organization of the 2002 games, accused that a group of members of the IOC had taken bribes since the 1990 bidding process for the 1996 Olympic games.

In 1998 members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) were accused of taking bribes from the Salt Lake Organizing Committee (SLOC) during the bidding process.


Bids for the 2006 Winter Olympics

In the wake of the Salt Lake City bid scandal, a new bidding procedure was instituted in 1999 to elect the 2006 Winter Olympics host city.
