27P/Crommelin

The next observation was on November 10, 1873 by Jérôme E. Coggia (Marseille, France), and again on November 11 by Friedrich A. T. Winnecke (Strasbourg, France), but it was lost by November 16.

The first observation was by Jean-Louis Pons (Marseille, France) on February 23, 1818, he followed the comet up until February 27 but was prevented further by bad weather.


John Crommelin-Brown

Crommelin-Brown's son-in-law John Eggar, another Repton master, played cricket for Derbyshire after the Second World War.

Crommelin was born on 29 June 1881 at Aston Station, near Bombala, New South Wales.

Verlet integration

It was also used by Cowell and Crommelin in 1909 to compute the orbit of Halley's Comet, and by Carl Størmer in 1907 to study the motion of electrical particles in a magnetic field.
