Certain chosen games were broadcast in 3D, marking the first time in history that Elitserien was broadcast in 3D.
Japan pledged that if it had been granted the rights to host the 2022 World Cup games, it would develop technology enabling it to provide a live international telecast of the event in 3D, which would allow 400 stadiums in 208 countries to provide 360 million people with real-time 3D coverage of the games projected on giant screens, captured in 360 degrees by 200 HD cameras.
The satellite TV package includes Flemish national channels, HD and 3D channels, and a range of European free-to-air channels, all transmitted from Astra satellites.
This eventually resulted in a successful public demonstration in Paris of a 3D television system.
In May 2010, the company announced that it would add support for 3D television to its roster of services.

Sky 3D is a 3D television channel on the Sky platform, that launched on 3 April 2010 with the Manchester United vs Chelsea football match being broadcast in over a thousand pubs across the UK and Ireland in 3D.
