Brunswick Street, Melbourne

In the 1980s, 3RRR established its studios in Victoria Street, off Brunswick Street, the Punters Club established itself as a significant live music venue, as did the Evelyn Hotel, and independent record shop PolyEster Records opened.

They also attracted a loyal fan base in Australia thanks to touring in the early 90s, an appearance on The Big Gig and airplay on radio stations such as 3PBS and 3RRR where they were regularly played on magazine-style comedy show The Cheese Shop.

Bohdan X

Bohdan lasted on 3RRR for 17 years, interviewed in November 2006, he reflected on being a radio presenter and told Larissa Dubecki of The Age, "I said I wanted a punk show. Greig Pickhaver (later known as the comic HG Nelson) said to come down. They got me to come in at 11am and I was on air that afternoon. Volunteers were a lot harder to come by in those days. But I fitted right in; it was like a family".
