The Skøyen Line passes north of the square, and it is within walking distance of Nationaltheatret Station.

Before 1953, the street was called Charlottenburger Chaussee, because it ran from the old city center (Berlin-Mitte) to the borough of Charlottenburg through the Tiergarten ("Animal garden").
Via Kaiserdamm, Bismarckstraße and Straße des 17. Juni, the Theodor-Heuss-Platz is connected in a straight axis with Ernst-Reuter-Platz, the Berlin Victory Column, the Brandenburg Gate as well as Unter den Linden street and the Schloßplatz.
