According to Professor Richard Sakwa, the creation of A Just Russia was supported by the siloviki faction in the Presidential administration; the aim was to create a more left-oriented alternative to United Russia.
In October 2006 Igor Putin changed his political affiliations from the United Russia to A Just Russia political party.
Following the results of elections in Legislative assembly of tne VI convocation a barrier there passed 4 parties: United Russia – 17 places, LDPR – 8 places, the CPRF – 8 places, Just Russia – 3 places.
