Born in Bari as Michele Del Prete, at young age he moved to Milan with his family, following the passage of the father, a footballer, from A.S. Bari to Calcio Como.
Following Caravella's stint at Omniworld, various media outlets reported him to being chased by various Serie B clubs in Italy, namely Bari and Piacenza.

The stadium was opened on 17 May 2000, and was celebrated with a friendly match between Middlesbrough F.C. and A.S. Bari.
At club level he played as a winger for S.S.C. Napoli and Bari amongst many others, as a coach he managed several clubs in the Province of Naples area.
In September 2013, he left Uruguay for Italian side Bari and just a four-month later, returned back to play for Defensor Sporting.
Meggiorini was transferred to Bari on 2 July 2009 along with Bonucci, Matteo Paro (loan), Andrea Ranocchia (loan) and Giuseppe Greco (loan) in another co-ownership deal, which the 50% registration rights of Bonucci Meggiorini were valued €1.75 million and €2.75 million respectively.
He joined Bari in 1989, and formed a formitable striking partnership with Pietro Maiellaro and later with Romanian Florin Raducioiu.
