The area has road transport links, it is situated less than 2 miles from the M5 motorway and the A419 which leads to Swindon and connects to the A40 to Oxford.
The town, encompassing around 25 hectares at its peak, was located at Nythe Farm, east of the A419 adjacent to modern Swindon, although the site is usually associated with the village of Wanborough to the southeast.
Today the barracks have good connections to the A419 and A417 trunk roads allowing easy access to the whole of the southern England, via the M4 and M5 Motorway.
