Edward Cullinan

His Father, a doctor who served as senior physician at St Bartholomew's Hospital, had no great interest in the arts - though he was a brilliant amateur conjuror- but his mother (Slade-trained painter and daughter of the royal physician, Lord Horder) was an enthusiast for modern architecture and filled the nursery with Aalto furniture.


Aalto University Sports Club

The club was the sports club of the Helsinki University of Technology, but as of 29 March 2010, the name has been Aalto-yliopiston urheiluseura, reflecting the merger of the Helsinki University of Technology, the Helsinki School of Economics, and the University of Art and Design Helsinki into what is now the Aalto University.

Alvar Aalto Medal

The award is often made at the Alvar Aalto Symposium, held every four years in Jyväskylä, Aalto’s home town.
