The organisation at that time had two paid workers, one of whom, Santosh Koli, later died in a road incident not long after being selected as an election candidate by Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party.
The 2011 anti corruption demonstration of Anna Hazare and the 2013 oath ceremony of the AAP chief minister Arvind Kejriwal also took place at the Ramlila Maidan.
The electoral threat posed by the recently-formed Aam Aadmi Party caused him to be replaced by Harsh Vardhan.
