Aarbergen

With the consecration of St. Severus’s Monastery in 845, the village of Kettenbach was founded by Gebhard, Count of the Lahngau and had its first documentary mention.

Oligocene shingle (Vallendar facies) overlies the older surface near Kettenbach and Hausen über Aar.

Aar Valley Railway

The line passes through Taunusstein, Bad Schwalbach (called Langenschwalbach until 1927), Aarbergen and Hahnstätten, which all lie in the Aar valley in the western Hintertaunus (the lower north-western ridges of the Taunus).
