James Fitzjames

The Coningham family seem to have lived at several locations in Hertfordshire, settling in the late 1820s at a substantial 30 acre country estate called Rose Hill in Abbots Langley.

Robert Raymond, 1st Baron Raymond

In 1731 he was raised to the peerage as Lord Raymond, Baron of Abbots Langley in the County of Hertford.


Augustus Shears

After serving as Curate of the parishes of Lutterworth, Leicestershire (1851–1853), Escrick, Yorkshire (1853–1855), and Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire (1855–1859), he worked as a missionary in Moulmein, Burma (1859–1862), where he set up a school and translated part of the Book of Common Prayer into Burmese.
