In 2006 he left Alabama to chair the EE Department at The Petroleum Institute in the UAE (where El-Keib remained until he joined the Libyan Transitional National Council as one of its representatives for Tripoli in the summer of 2011).
In January 2014, Amezcua began hosting the afternoon-drive show on "Patriot Radio", 1150AM KEIB in Los Angeles.
After his retirement, he was heard on a recorded Sunday program on KMPC, and later as afternoon drive personality at KPRZ, Los Angeles, reversing his traditional KMPC role, as former KMPC afternoon DJ Gary Owens was then KPRZ morning man.
Jacor quickly improved ratings at KIIS-FM and turned the AM (now KEIB) from a 5000 watt unknown to a successful sports station that for several years was the flagship station for Los Angeles Dodgers baseball games.
